A rhyme for teenage daughters and their mothers:
I miss their Big Bird days
And their little toddler ways—
Given way to hormonal craze
And tired, parental daze.
I miss their Big Bird days
And often am amazed
How dumb they think I am
When they used to be my fans.
I miss their Big Bird hours
When the car keys held no power
And looks at me weren’t sour
In their simpler Big Bird days.
How I miss their Big Bird days.
